Counselling, life coaching and therapy. Lets find out more...

What is Walking and Talking Coaching?

Walking and Talking Coaching is walking side by side, discussing what is on your mind and finding solutions or developing techniques to challenge perceptions, accept situations and navigate the past.
Along the way we might dabble in a bit of mindfulness. Mindfulness involves being in the moment, focusing on the breath and using your senses to give your mind a moment to reboot.
Walking and talking therapy is gentle exercise for the body and soothing for the mind in a safe and seen environment.

What are the benefits of Walking and Talking Coaching?

Sit down therapies are not for everyone. Walking and talking gets you out of the room, outdoors, and gives you a mental shift to be open, in the open. Some people relate it to ‘car chats’, where you sit side by side looking ahead whilst talking about something very real on your mind.
Walking and taking can change your perceptions to problems, beliefs and habits.
But that’s not all. Being outdoors increases the levels of happy hormones in our bodies. It can also supports people with social anxieties by encouraging simple interactions with others as we walk.

        Disclaimer:
Walking and Talking Coaching sessions does not mean that we have to walk the whole session or even at all. Sessions can take place sat in a park or other public spaces. We can even talk on the phone or meet remotely online.

        Where do we walk?

After a few telephone/zoom conversations, we can discuss a suitable place to meet. A usual route is around The River Parrett in Langport.

This allows for free parking, plenty of space to walk and talk in a public place, to sit when required and even grab a coffee.

        broken image

        What about confidentiality?

We are walking around public spaces so there is a possibility that other people may over hear parts of our conversation. I will make every effort to safeguard your confidentiality during our sessions.

Any concerns can be discussed and assessed.
        broken image

        What about the weather?

Welcome to the UK! Some people like to walk in the rain and some may want to reschedule, take to the indoors or meet over zoom or the phone.
        broken image

        What do we talk about?

Everything is guided by you. The route, the pace, session lengths, and most importantly what we discuss. We will discuss whatever comes to mind for you that day and take into account short term and long term goals.
The aim at the end of the session is to feel listened to, safe and balanced.

        Can I bring my dog?

As an owner of a therapy dog, I understand the positive impact of being around animals.
I would love for your dog to walk with us, but when and where we meet and your dog’s personality and temperament will be the main factors when determining your dogs suitability for the sessions.

Hazel: the counsellor, therapist and coach

        broken image

        More about ME

I’m Hazel, a life coach specialising in Social, Emotional and Mental Health. I have supported adults,
couples, teenagers and children for over 17 years, not just by walking and talking but in schools, the office, at businesses and events.

        I am a wife, a mother and a carer.

I started Walking and Talking because I can see how tradition coaching and counselling methods do not suit everyone. I understand that sitting in a room with a stranger can feel intimidating and be overwhelming.

I also understand that coaching and counselling can be expensive and that means unobtainable for some. I believe that those who want support should be able to get the best support regardless of financial situations. Walking and Talking alleviates the need for an office . These savings can be passed on to you, making Talking and Walking more affordable and better value for money.

If you would like to find out more, send me message or give me a call.

Thank you for reaching out. Our walking journey is about to begin…
        Hazel

Walking and Talking Coaching on YouTube

        Outdoor therapy, indoors.

Please check out the introductory video on YouTube explaining what walking and talking coaching is and answering many other questions you might have.

You will also find mindfulness walks that I have completed around Somerset that last between 10-20 minutes.

These clips are designed to put a comma in your day. They can give you a moment of outdoors at your desk at lunchtime. They can give you a moment of outdoors when the weather is miserable. They can be shared with someone who cannot get outdoors, bringing the outdoors into the comfort of their front room, bed or community.

I first started doing this clips to promote Walking and Talking Coaching. Then I realised that these clips have a greater audience, like my dad who is 84 and who's mind and body isn't what it used to be. I can do the walking while my dad still gets to enjoy the outdoors and scenery.

I would love my videos to be shared by carers, nursing homes, hospitals and more.

        And don't forget to subscribe!

        Homeschooling with Hazel

        Home Education Sessions

I worked in mainstream secondary education for 16 years, working with students that found lessons challenging, needed extra support academically, emotionally and socially.

I started home educating, mentoring and coaching alongside Walking and Talking, because a lot of parents wanted to give their children more than what a mainstream school does and can.
I want to teach in ways that inspire, provoke curiosity and gets students away from learning at a desk.
I want to support children and young people who find mainstream schools challenging.

Homeschooling with Hazel offers learning through play, social experiences and practical lessons that are built around life skills and personal development.

Homeschooling with Hazel can provide the following:
        • I can schedule a complete homeschooling programme.
        • I can teach weekly regular one-to-one lessons.
        • I can focus on subject teaching, developing life skills and focus on emotional support to build
          confidence and strong self-worth.
        • I can monitor progress, helping organise public examinations and give support and advise to
          parents.

Homeschooling with Hazel does not do standardised teaching. Your child is an individual and deserves an education that puts them at the centre.
